KIEV, April 10. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko demanded on Friday more transparency during the investigation into the May 2 events in the southern port city of Odessa.

"We will not allow the repetition of what happened in Odessa on May 2. The only wish is greater transparency in investigating the events of May 2," the Ukrainian president told the First City Channel.

The Odessa citizens have the right to know what is going on and who is to blame for that, Poroshenko said. "This is irrespective of the political views of those who are suspected of the crime," he said.

On May 2, 2014, clashes occurred in Odessa between the football fans from Kharkiv, the Right Sector gunmen and the representatives of the so-called Maidan self-defense forces from Kiev with federalization supporters. As a result, the radicals set on fire the local House of Trade Unions where the federalization supporters took shelter. A total of 48 people were killed and another 200 were injured during the disorders.

Some Ukrainian politicians claimed the Kiev authorities underestimated the number of victims that could reach up to 116.

Russia has called on the world community to investigate the crimes against civilians in Ukraine’s south-east.
