KIEV, May 14. /TASS/. Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk proposed on Thursday to expand the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

"We have several decisions on increasing the anti-corruption activity, and the first of them is the real launch of work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, and we ask the parliament to expand its powers," Yatsenyuk told a cabinet meeting.

The parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, should allow the Anti-Corruption Bureau to carry out investigations against state officials "if they provide insufficient information on their property in tax declarations."

"We have many such facts when the declarations do not correspond to real property," he said, calling to revise laws on fight against corruption when the property is registered to relatives and third persons.

The officials should declare their property that they use but which has been registered to other persons, he added.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has been tasked with prejudicial inquiry into corruption-related crimes and special investigation activities. It is in charge of crimes committed by MPs and local authorities, government members, law enforcement agencies and the leadership of state agencies and bodies.
