MAKHACHKALA (Sputnik) – Moscow has sent 33 humanitarian convoys to help victims of the internal conflict in Ukraine since August 2014. According to the Emergencies Ministry, a new convoy is currently being assembled.

"In August, two more humanitarian convoys will be sent," Puchkov said.

The minister noted that this time Ukrainians will receive not only pharmaceutical aid and food, but also school textbooks for children.

The Donbas region has been severely affected by fighting between Kiev forces and eastern Ukraine militias, beginning in April 2014. Local residents have been suffering from an economic blockade imposed by Kiev in November 2014.

Russia has, to date, sent over 45,000 tons of aid to Donbass since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
