KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko described Monday riots in the country's capital Kiev as an anti-Ukrainian action whose perpetrators must held responsible.

"It was a stab in the back. How else can you describe the events after vote in Verkhovna Rada?" Poroshenko said in a televised statement. "It was an anti-Ukrainian action whose organizers…must be punished severely," Poroshenko stressed.

About 100 were injured and a law enforcer was killed in the clashes as a grenade had exploded near the Ukraine's parliament.

According to Ukrainian Internal Minister Arsen Avakov, more than 30 were detained following the riots, including the person who threw a grenade.

The Interior Ministry said that radical Svoboda party was to blame for the violence.
