Summary of hostilities in Novorossia on March, 4

On March 4 there was no full-scale fighting in Novorossia, but local fights broke out in some parts of the front. South of DPR - Shirokino village, Donetsk airport remain hot spots in Donbass, where security forces conduct harassing attacks, thereby preventing the search works and removing the debris in air harbor. Hostilities in DPR

Night of March 3 to 4 was relatively calm in Donetsk, active hostilities were not conducted. Ukrainian military struck at the residential areas of Donetsk with artillery. The fire was conducted from the settlement Maryinka. Information on casualties or damage was not reported.

On March 4 explosion happened at the mine Zasyadko at 5:57, according to preliminary data, methane gas exploded. At the time of the explosion there were 230 people in the mine. Rescue operations began. By the evening of March 4, 198 employees were raised to the surface, one of them was dead, and 14 injured. In total the explosion killed 32 people.

Donetsk Airport and the surrounding area are still the most hot spot: AFU constantly conduct harassing fire with cannon artillery, taking offensive actions from the direction of Opytnoye.

Ukrainian security forces fired on DPR army positions on the outskirts of Donetsk, Gorlovka, as well as in the village of Spartak with mortars, artillery, anti-aircraft and small arms within the day.

On March 4 shooting battle with the use of mortars was heard for forty minutes near the settlement Dzerzhinsk in the area of ​​mine 8 at 19:05. Details were not reported.

According to the Ukrainian side, AFU positions in the area of Opytnoye, Peski, Beryozovo were allegedly fired with small arms by 6 am of March 4. It was also reported that militias allegedly shelled AFU positions near Avdeyevka about midnight, and at the positions in the area of ​​Vodyanoye with mortars and anti-aircraft system.

According to reports from the Ukrainian side, there was shooting battle in Granitnoye in the afternoon of March 4. Details were not reported.

Ukrainian law enforcers fired at DPR army positions near the village Shirokino in the morning of March 4. About 13:00 there was fight in the area of Shirokino. Ukrainian side claimed that the militia used tank that conducted a few shots on the positions of the Ukrainian military. Security officials opened fire with ZU-23 in response. But, as specified in the message, there was no "direct fire contact".

Hostilities in LPR

In the night of March 3 to 4 shooting with automatic weapons and grenade launchers broke out at the edge of Krimskoye (near the former 31th checkpoint on the road Bakhmutka).

In the night of March 4 there were shooting and mortar breaks in the vicinity of Troitskoye. Information about the destruction or injuries was not reported.

According to the Ukrainian side, positions of the so-called ATO forces near the city of Schastye were fired with grenade launchers and small arms in the night of March 3 to 4. Also, by 11:00 of March 4 positions of Ukrainian law enforcers at Schastye were allegedly fired with small arms from the direction of Vesyolaya Gora4 times.

Ukraine mined bridges on the border with Crimea. The existing bridge on the road between the border crossing points "Dzhankoi" (Russia) and "Chongar" (Ukraine), and the old bridge, which is currently not being used, were mined on February 17. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian side stated that another convoy from Russia to Donetsk and Lugansk moved with "violation of international and Ukrainian legislation," because Ukrainian border guards were not allowed to inspect the cars and carried out only visual observation.
