MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. All of the unofficial armed groups in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic have laid down their arms, a spokesman for the military commandant’s office of the local police force has said.

The Luhansk Republic’s authorities at the end of March demanded that all armed groups lay down weapons, ammunition, and military equipment or to join the police force of the self-proclaimed republic. All groups who have failed to do so have been declared illegal.

"There are no armed units that have not joined the local police force or some other official units," the spokesman for the commandant’s office told LuhanskInformCenter.

He explained that in most cases the leaders of the armed groups "responded to the demands with understanding."

"Part of the disbanded groups joined the local police force or been converted to territorial defence battalions under our control," the official said.

According to decree by the Luhansk Republic’s Chief Igor Plotnitsky all measures to identify and disarm illegal armed groups must be held on April 5 through April 20.
