MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The defense ministry of east Ukriane's self-proclaimed Donetsk republic has dismissed Kiev’s allegations about on-going clashes in the community of Maryinka.

"The situation in Maryinka is calm at the moment. The sole activity observed there is redeployment of Ukrainian military’s hardware, which can be observed from the militia’s positions," the Donetsk News Agency quotes the Defence Ministry’s spokesman as saying.

Earlier, the speaker for the headquarters of Kiev’s military operation in the southeast, Andrey Lysenko, claimed at a news briefing the militias had mounted a fire attack against Ukrainian troops’ positions in Maryinka and a combat clash was reportedly in progress.

On Wednesday, June 3 active combat clashes between Ukrainian troops and the militias were registered in Maryinka, near Donetsk. Donetsk republic defense ministry’s spokesman Eduard Basurin said "it was a large-scale provocation by Ukrainian military" launched with the aim to distract attention from a larger operation in the Luhansk Region.
